Sydney Metro Increases Operating Hours and More Trains

More frequent trains and late-night rides make commuting around Sydney even easier

The new stretch of the Sydney Metro increases operating hours and more trains that will be more convenient for daily commuters. On its first day alone, 190,000 Sydneysiders hopped on board, and now, after five successful weeks, services are set to get even better. From today, trains will run more frequently and later into the night.

Sydney Metro Increases Operating Hours and More Trains

Since the metro line between Chatswood and Sydenham opened on August 19, more than 8,500 services have been completed, with 5 million passenger journeys recorded. The demand has been so high that services during off-peak hours (10am to 3pm) will now run every five minutes, and trains will continue operating later into the night. While it won’t run 24/7 just yet, trains will now operate past midnight every night except Sundays, so late-night commuters can still zip home quickly after a night out in the city.
