Sydney Janice Wong wins Pastry Innovation Award 2024, founder of 2am: Dessertbar located in W Sydney. La Liste the global guide to the best eateries and hotels has released its most delectable list yet the Pastry Awards 2024. While some of Sydney’s standout bakers and pastry chefs like Lode and A.P Bakery missed out on recognition, the city still brought home a prestigious accolade.
Wong, previously crowned ‘Asia’s Best Pastry Chef’ by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, is celebrated for her extraordinary, Willy Wonka-style creations. If you haven’t yet indulged in her desserts at W Sydney, it’s high time you did.

The judges praised Wong’s work, saying:
“Janice Wong is known for pushing the limits of creativity past the typical boundaries presented by chocolate and pastry, to create unique and immersive experiences that span concept stores and art exhibitions, in Asia and Australia.”
Wong shared her win with cookbook author and pastry chef Antonio Bachour, known for his experimental approach to pastry.
La Liste’s Pastry Awards 2024 celebrates the finest pastry chefs and shops worldwide, from Paris to Lima, Budapest to Singapore. This year, 25 patisseries and bakeries were recognized in ten categories, including Most Creative Chef and Discovery Gem, at a ceremony held in Paris on Monday, June 17. La Liste compiles its rankings using a combination of crowd-sourced reviews, critical reviews, and international dining guides.
