Clover Moore has secured her 6th term as Sydney lord mayor, despite facing a tougher-than-usual campaign and a swing against her. The 78-year-old independent politician declared victory on Saturday night at an event with her supporters in Sydney’s CBD, calling it the “toughest campaign” of her career.

Moore acknowledged a strong effort to unseat her but expressed gratitude to the community for their support, despite challenges and misinformation during the campaign. She plans to focus on climate change, affordable housing, and revitalising key areas like Chinatown and Oxford Street during her new term.

Moore secured 36% of the primary vote, a decrease from nearly 43% in 2021, but she remained confident based on preference flows from previous elections. By the end of the night, she had comfortably outperformed her opponents, including Labor’s Zann Maxwell and Greens candidate Sylvie Ellsmore.
